Why do we consider that the image intensifier is so important?

We believe that it is very important for us to support this campaign to help provide our Malvern Community Hospital team with the best equipment for their work. In the past the Beacon Clinic Medical Director, Dr Martin Allbright worked as an anaesthetist in a ‘NHS pain clinic’ and he recognises the importance of accurate diagnosis and the delivery of precise treatment. Obtaining an image intensifier will help the NHS provide excellent care for the people of Malvern.

We consider the Image Intensifier so important because we at the Beacon Clinic know that patients can benefit from a variety of treatments. Sometimes a complementary therapy is of value on its own; however there are some occasions when people benefit from integrating our therapies with Western medical treatments.

The Beacon clinic welcomes you to a special fund raising day in aid of the Malvern Image Intensifier Appeal, on Saturday 6th July, 10am - 4pm.

What is available on the day

Acupuncture with Alison Moon and Pip Russmann

What is acupuncture and how could it help me? Acupuncture originated in China over 2,000 years ago and still features in mainstream healthcare, both as a stand-alone therapy and in combination with conventional western medicine.

Acupuncture works to help maintain the body’s equilibrium.  It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of ‘qi’, your body’s vital energy.

Treatment is aimed at the root cause of your condition as well as your main symptoms.  This approach helps with resolving your problem and enhancing your feeling of well being, physical and emotional harmony. You may notice other niggling problems resolve as your main health complaint improves.

Counselling with Rob Williams and Sarah Jeffery

Taster sessions between 10-1 - " How well do you know yourself?"  With Rob.  "Self Awareness is the ability to perceive aspects of our personality, including behaviour, emotions, motivations, strengths, weaknesses, thoughts and emotions. Self Awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment.

As you develop self awareness you are able to make changes in the thoughts and interpretations you make in your mind. Changing the interpretations in your mind allows you to change your emotions."

“Easing the pain: talking through tough times”, with Sarah. Counselling and psychotherapy are both forms of ongoing emotional support for those who feel that, at the moment, they are unable to manage their state of mind or situation on their own. A counsellor is trained to listen to you carefully, without judging you or your feelings, and to help you find ways to resolve the problems, difficulties or behaviours that might be distressing you or stopping you from moving forward.

“It can be a great relief to share your worries and fears with someone who acknowledges your feelings and can help you reach a positive solution.” Counselling—How It Works www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Counselling/Pages/Howitworks

Holistic Massage with Jayne Blatchford

Massage helps you to reconnect with your body, it eases away tension stored in the muscles, improves circulation and leaves you feeling relaxed and restored.

Homeopathy with Ruth Radburn and Violaine King

Homeopathy is a holistic way to bolster your health before going on holiday as well as treating minor ailments while away. You might want to take a homeopathic travel kit with you to cover those acute first aid eventualities, to support the family's response to the stresses of travelling, or just to support your weary legs from all the sight-seeing. You might also want to see a homeopath who can design pre-holiday support for you and a travel kit that meets the challenges of your unique trip.

Nutritional Coaching with Sophie Jones

Creating health through nutrition is a journey, not a sprint.  Choosing to improve how and what you eat can be the best step you take towards supporting your own health and well being. Nutrition and Health coaching supports people in making a commitment to care for themselves and to improve their health each day through small, practical steps.  A Nutrition coach works as your partner, helping you to achieve your goals at your pace, developing your understanding of how you can work with your body, not against it.  As a qualified Nutritional Therapist, Sophie takes a holistic approach, working with people on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
